Entering this luxury sea view cottage, you are greeted by a substantial handmade oak door leading into a hallway linking the original blackhouse and old hayloft.
On one side, an open-plan living area, kitchen, and dining room boast low windows that look across the front garden towards Loch Snizort and Skye’s dramatic Trotternish peninsula.
To the other side is a private dressing area and bathroom with stairs that lead up to a luxurious bedroom suite.
This deep, black-painted space with a super-king bed and reading room is oriented towards a panoramic triptych of windows which look over the croft towards the seascape and the morning sunrise over the water.

As designers, James & Carolina have carefully curated the interiors and furnishings of this luxury cottage by the sea with a focus on retaining much of the original character and history, including rare antiques dating as far back as the 16th century whilst adding beautiful modern and handcrafted pieces to make a truly remarkable home.
Of particularly special note are the ‘blackhouse stools’ by Sheahan Made X Bard which are inspired by traditional Scottish 19th century black pine fireside stools.
Inside, The Blackhouse cottage features the work of local artisans in Skye and from across Scotland, alongside selected pieces by international designers and makers that feel at home here.
We are especially delighted to feature work by acclaimed Skye ceramic artist Patricia Shone, who has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, as well as a striking print of renowned Chilean artist Guillermo Lorca’s ‘The Herd’ which evokes a fantastical entanglement of humans and animals that offers a whimsical sense of life on this land over two centuries ago.
